First time riding the train and it was rather enjoyable. Plenty of room to stretch out with huge reclining chairs and room for storage. Plug ins to charge things and a relaxing trip looking at small towns and the Texas countryside.

Dining car is very comfortable and has snacks and refreshments.
This was a very inexpensive and relaxing way to travel across Texas.

I plan to take my daughter on a summer trip out west and they even have room for pets and a large storage to bring a bike with.

It is a nice station to go to.it is generally clean, it is close to downtown, and has a nearby bus stop to go to. I go here often and don't have any issue in the waiting area.

At our stop in Austin I went to the restroom and noticed my bag was missing, I then found it on the other stowed luggage side wide open. When I brought it to the attention of the Amtrak employee he just looked at me and walked away. I quickly closed it and haven't looked to see if anything is missing since my final destination is San Antonio. I am just very disappointed in the lack of empathy or direction on what to do in an instance such as this. So , my first round trip train ride was 3 hours and 15 minutes late, my bag was moved and opened and no concern was shown when I pointed out the issue. Yup, winning combination, especially since after my first leg of the journey I felt this may be my new method of travel. Definitely left a bad impression, and many people had asked me to let them know about the experience since they were potentially interested. I'm not sure I can honestly recommend at this point.

Transit has been severely delayed on every trip I've been. Trash company. You're somehow better off using greyhound to get to your destination.

This is a review of the station and not Amtrak train services. Not much charm about this place. A small station with no food option except vending machines. Nothing really within walking distance either. Make sure you bring snacks.

We took an Amtrak for the first time to Dallas and had a good experience. The employees were friendly and so were the passengers. What would be nice is if they had mentioned the free parking spaces on their website instead of suggesting nearby parking garages, as we thought we couldn't park in their lot and so had friends transport us. There is plenty of parking for everyone, so don't be fooled by their website. The station opens at 9 so if you come before then you'll be waiting outside. But we had a good experience and our kids especially had fun.

This Austin Station of Amtrak is very convenient with walkability access to 5th and 6th Street shops and cafes in Downtown Austin. The station is clean inside and out.
